Shards of Stone Trilogy

Abomination

In ages past, so the histories tell us, our ancestors were ruled wisely and well by the Six Masters and their Courts – aided in their task by the magical Shards of Stone that bestowed power upon their holders.

Today few Shards remain. The land has fallen into disrepair and lawlessness with the people reverting to a feudal existence, governed by the Brotherhood of Serenity which controls the remaining Shards and their magics with ruthless jealousy.

Jaydon Farcast is an orphan, raised by his aunt and uncle, who dreams of becoming a soldier in the service of his Lord Derwain. But those dreams are shattered when he discovers that he controls two of the legendary Shards – bestowing on him the gifts of both Mind Magic and War Magic and therefore making him, under the Brotherhood’s teachings, unnatural, perverted, and liable for summary execution. An Abomination.

Now Jaydon must learn to use his magics, fighting with both occult and warrior skills to evade the Brotherhood’s justice and protect his family.

True Mage

Jaydon Farcast, trained as an Advanced Mage by the Brotherhood of Serenity, and installed as Protector to the Court of King Terrowin in the Southern Kingdom, has been exposed as having both Mind and War Magic making him – in the eyes of that Brotherhood – an Abomination.

Betrayed, captured, and sentenced to undergo the fatal Mountain Trial Jaydon must now not only survive that trial and escape, but also save four other Mages who have been condemned alongside him for simply being his friend.

If they can win free Jaydon must travel north where people with his abilities are not feared as Abominations but treated with respect as True Mages.  There, he must find a teacher to complete his training.  But that will mean entering enemy territory where he will be hunted by King Maxim of the Northern Kingdom as well as being pursued by The Brotherhood.

His chances of survival are slim, despite his abilities and his possession of the Rainbow Necklace – the Brotherhood’s most valuable magical Artefact.

Book 3

You will just have to wait for what happens at the end of our trilogy. No plot spoilers here!!

Suffice it to say, Jaydon Farcast – as our protagonist – won’t be killed off; but that doesn’t mean that he will remain completely unscathed.

And there will be a happy ending. I mean, who doesn’t like a happy ending? I certainly do – and since I’m the one writing this thing it’s a given.

But, of course, it won’t be a happy ending for everyone! Some of the people you have already met – and some whom you have yet to encounter – are not going to finish the journey with us. Some may go on to live full and interesting lives – but will do so outside this story; some will meet the grisly ends they so richly deserve; and one, who I have grown quite fond of and who certainly doesn’t deserve their fate, is destined to fall before the end.
